Meet Katie – a Calbright graduate

“I have a bit of a varied background,” said Katie, a returning Calbright graduate from the Bay Area. “Right out of high school I was very interested in tech, and I really wanted to go into web design and development, but it was still sort of a new field at that point, and I really wasn’t interested in the math heavy, engineering side of it. So I ended up sticking with what was comfortable and going into child care.”

She worked as a preschool teacher and administrator, got an associates degree but didn’t complete a bachelors, then she started a family. Katie remained in the workforce as a mother of two, but after welcoming her third child, “it just made more sense to stay home. So I took a career break.”

Now that her kids are in middle and high school, “it seemed like a great time to focus more on myself and my own career again. I ended up exploring tech.”

She enrolled in Calbright’s CRM Platform Administration program, completed it quickly, and had a great experience.

“I really liked how much of the program was hands-on,” he said. “It wasn’t so much sitting in a classroom, listening to lectures, it was following through with tutorials and hands-on stuff.”

She’s since come back to complete her certificate in Project Management, which she also got through in just a few months, and is now enrolled in the Data Analysis program.

“I feel that data analysis, along with CRM and project management skills, really round out my expertise,” she said. “I’ll be able to enter data, analyze data, and then manage projects based on that data, and that really sounds great.”
