May 24, 2022, Sacramento, CA – Today, the Calbright College Board of Trustees unanimously approved the College’s collective bargaining agreement with the Calbright Faculty Association (CFA), the institution’s local chapter (1485) of the California Teachers Association. This is the first ratified labor agreement in the College’s short history and is the result of a collaborative process reflecting the importance of participatory governance and a shared vision for Calbright’s future. The inaugural agreement will run from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2025.
Calbright was created to serve non-traditional learners across the state of California, and its founding legislation mandates that it be built from the ground up. The College opened for enrollment in late 2019 and welcomed the formalization of the faculty union in 2020.
In addition to the faculty agreement ratified today, Calbright’s California School Employees Association (CSEA) chapter 53, which represents classified staff, formally elected chapter leadership in early May 2022 and will begin the collective bargaining process in June.
